2013 Sustainability Street Phillip Bay Highlights
2013 has seen Leeanne and I invest much of our time and energy being foundation members of the Narara Ecovillage Co-operative (NEV), formed in mid 2012. We have begun to focus our attention on a move up there through a staged process over two or three years and, consequently, begun winding down our involvement in Phillip Bay. We'll be staying at my parent's former home at Booker Bay, just 25 minutes from Narara, for at least two, possibly three, years while NEV is developed and our new strawbale house is built. We'll be letting our home to sustainable tenants and hopefully, they'll get involved in the Susty St.
We are currently in a transition phase but, rest assured, will continue our quest for the sustainable life in Narara in the fulness of time to an even bigger and better level as our whole 140 households will be living the sustainably in community, open for all to see! Thanx for following Sustainability Street Phillip Bay. I hope we've been an inspiration to you and encouraged you to live lightly on our wonderful planet. Please come up and visit us at NEV. It may well change your life!
A quick update on our activities this year @ Phillip Bay. Our PV system had a fault which led it to being inoperative from early January to mid May. Unfortunately I didn't pick it up until we received our April bill which had no solar feed in! The good news is that Gareth and Maria's PV system has already paid itself off even though they had some teething problems at the start.
We haven't planted any vegies this year, apart from some lettuce. We are setting up the garden for the tenants so they can do with it what they wish.
Please check out NEV. Come up and see us on one of our monthly Open Days! Best wishes to you all. :-)
